Christopher Hale announced his endorsement of Joe Biden for president of the United States on Monday, March 2. Tennesseans head to the polls on Tuesday, March 3 to vote in the presidential primary.

Fellow Tennesseans—

​

I say this on the basis of deep personal experience: Joe Biden's one of the finest men that God ever made.

​

In the wake of his son Beau's death in the summer of 2015, the Vice President hosted two small breakfasts for faith leaders at his official residence in Washington.

 

At the end of the first breakfast, I gave the Vice President a handwritten note asking him to run for president in 2016.

​

At the start of the second breakfast, the Vice President greeted the attendees in the living room. He came up to me and said that he received my note and he was thankful for it:

​

“I’m not sure what I’m gonna do. I’ve relearned in old age what the nuns taught you and me as kids, Christopher—love without suffering isn’t real. My family is suffering a helluva lot right now. I’m not sure if I’m gonna run, but I know redeeming Beau’s death is gonna define the rest of my life.”

​

Joe Biden is a good man. Character and decency have defined his life. It's time to redeem our nation's values, and Joe Biden's the one to do it.

​

I'm confident of this. If we make Joe Biden our nominee, he'll defeat Donald Trump and restore character to the nation's highest office.

​

Tennessee, we know Joseph Robinette Biden, Jr., but more importantly he knows us. He'll make the joys and the hopes, the sufferings and the anxieties of our people his own in the White House.

That's why I'm endorsing him to be the next president of the United States.
